Shaker tape is cotton strapping originally developed by the religious sect of the same name. It's a great beginning weaver material, easy and quick to weave and pattern/color variations are endless.
Handling Notes
- For trapezoidal chairs, short pieces must be tacked to side rails before weaving
- Using 1-in. tape speeds up weaving but results in a blockier pattern; ⅝ tape creates more intricate designs and a tighter seat
- Seats should be padded with foam
- For maintenance, vacuum off dust and debris
- Not suitable for outdoor use
