A small ball of undyed cream cotton yarn, a long loose strand curving out and looping around it.

This sample of undyed cotton yarn was produced by apparel manufacturer Seed2Shirt, using cotton sourced through partnerships with African and African American cotton farmers in Africa and the United States. The cotton used for this sample was grown in South Carolina.

Composition

Cotton fiber

Handling Notes

  • Absorbs fiber-reactive dyes well
  • When dyeing, pre-scour (initial cleaning process used to remove natural oils, waxes, dirt, and manufacturing residues from raw fibers, yarns, or fabrics before they are dyed, printed, or finished) in hot soapy water for even color absorption
