Bio-based leather is made from plant-based proteins derived from grains, blended with other natural ingredients designed to replicate the structure of collagen in animal leather. The material is designed to achieve strength and durability similar to animal leather.

  • Can be used for garment and textile production
  • Leather cannot be wetted and shaped like vegetable-tanned hide; rather, treat leather more like a technical textile than hide
  • Cuts and stitches like leather; use sharp leather tools and a heavy-duty needle when working with leather
