Chestnut wood comes from chestnut trees native to North America and was historically prominent in the Appalachian region. The wood is relatively lightweight and coarse.

  • Chestnut wood is coarse, making it easy to work with both hand and power tools, although it is less suitable for turning
  • It can be sanded to a glass-smooth finish with minimal effort
