Cullet is recycled glass that has been broken into small pieces and cleaned for reuse. It is melted to make new glass objects or incorporated into glassworking processes as a source of color or material reuse.
Composition
Recycled glass
Handling Notes
- Cullet can be a substitute for silica, limestone, and soda ash in the glassblowing process
- It is commonly used to produce new glass and fiberglass
- When adding cullet to a hot furnace, do so gradually, as large cold chunks can cause thermal shock and may crack the crucible
