Northern red oak trees are native to the eastern and central United States. The wood is hard and dense, with a generally straight grain and a coarse, open texture.

  • When used in woodworking, Red oak tends to splinter
  • Although red oak sands readily, try garnet paper for hand-sanding and with orbital sanders
