Glass cane is a solid rod of colored glass, commonly used in glassworking to add lines, patterns, and detailed color elements to larger forms.
Handling Notes
- Cane can be used to create intricate patterns and stripes on blown glass objects
- It is important to heat the cane slowly and evenly before applying it to the gathered glass; using cold cane on hot glass can cause cracking
- Since cane is brittle at room temperature, handle it with care and store it flat to avoid snapping
