Gelatin biofibers are fibers made from untreated gelatin extruded into thin strands using an open-source biofiber spinning system developed by the Unstable Design Lab.

  • Utilized in product design and has been used to create dissolvable fibers
  • Humidity softens and weakens fibers over time; store sealed in a cool, dry environment
  • Extruded when warm and liquid; dries rigid; work quickly before the mixture sets
