Cane webbing is most often woven with strands of rattan into a “fabric” or webbing that is installed into a chair frame (seat, back or sides) or other furniture designed with a groove in the frame.

  • When making a chair frame for cane webbing, ensure the groove's interior is raw wood for easier installation
  • Installation involves soaking the webbing in warm water for 15–20 minutes before hammering it into the groove with a wedge
  • This material is not suitable for outdoor seating
